Default Vehicle speed sensor needed?

Does anyone know what the speed sensor is used for besides the cluster? Does it affect anything else if not plugged in? This is an obd2 car btw

It sends a signal to the computer that tells how fast you are going. It also works with the anti-lock brakes. The car might not run at all and if it does. It will run sluggish. And for sure the speedometer won't work.
