hey guys i have some purple hids on my ej1 im in cali will i get in trouble woth cops with them???even if the new cars have them but the new cars are purple and turn white mine are only purple??

 

Yes they are, that's why they sell them as "offroad use only".

Should have got 4300k, less obvious that purple 12000k

 

correct, anything that has "off-road use only" printed on the item, in the box, or on any warranty information is technically illegal on the streets. i would see if you can exchange them with someone or simply buy new bulbs

 

but how come new cars have the hid systems i used to have the blue hid system and never got hassled???

 

factory hid's = 100% legal
aftermarker hid's = 50/50 toss up

companies must make sure that their headlights are angled to not blind oncoming traffic, where as you taking them out of a box and putting them in arent going to have to go through any safety inspections. if you notice factory hid's are about 4300-6k and emit a blue-ish white light that enhances driver vision.

Factory HIDs are legal because the car comes with projector headlights and are aimed properly , not like kits in fluted headlights with a ton of glare and what not

 

here in La. i think anything aftermarket over 6k is going to get you a ticket.

car clubs that have like dodge magnums, 300c's, chevys (GM ******) always with purple hid's, green, and even pink and red. police are pussies here if they arent narcs

 

true i do sumtimes... but as long as your legit ... its actually kinda funny when chp pulls me over being ******** trying to find something wrong and 30 minutes later i leave haha

if you had a 4300k, 5000k or even 6000k, you can still get pulled over but your way less likely to. but as the guy above said its a 50/50, a cop could just feel like pulling you over, cause he wants to, but some other guy might not, i have had 0 issues with my 6000k but cops are normally pretty laid back about that kind of stuff here.
your just asking to get pulled over, hood poped ect.

If you want HIDs make sure you do a retrofit, otherwise it would look like **** and you would be blinding people on the road!

This is true. In order for them to be street legal they must be dot (Department of Transportation) approved.

 

So what car comes stock with 12000K purple HIDs? none that i know of.

If i was a cop i'd pull you over just for having purple headlights.

Why would you want them anyways? All your doing is taking away you usable light. Get some 4300-5000k and actually enjoy being able to see.

remember when the led hood water squirters came out, well i got them in blue and got pulled over the same day. Cop said i was inpersanating a cop car. this was acouple years back when these lights were cool. lol
