Default Balancer shaft question

Would a balance shaft not adjuster right for say 20k cause a rod bearing or 2 to go bad.

The phrasing of this question blew my mind.

I took of my timming belt last night and found that the rear balancer belt was off a few teeth and was causing a lot of vibration. The crank and cam were fine. I think that its been this way for a least 20k miles. Also the real issue is the engine has a knock between 1500rpm to 3000rpms. This only shows up at park/netural. If I drive it up a hill its noticeably fine and I was wounding if something else could be the issue. I've never changed the water pump. However its not leaking at all. I don't notice any water in my oil or any metal in the oil(using a led fash light to examine). The compression is 189/190/190/191 starting form pistion 1 to 4 with only 5 cranks each. New plugs, new wires, oem ignition parts (that are new). The engine wants to run fine. It idles perfect. There's also no floating metal in the oil. This is something I've noticed on other engines that spun a bearing long before the noise or engine failure was an issue. My next step would be to pull the oil pan any check the rod clearances. Engine has 142,722 miles on it

i might not know that much but in my opinion i think it could cause a bearing to go bad. if the teeth are off then the balance shaft would not be doing its job,it would/could be "balancing" at the wrong time putting extra stress on parts

That what I was thinking too. I'll put some stronger rods and pistons in get every thing rebuilt. then she's ready for a T3 turbo.

If any one else has got a idea please let me know.

Is it a knock or is it a load grumbling/growling noise in P/Neutral?

I just found out today that the #3 rod is the problem. If I disconnect the #3 spark plug wire and rev the knock goes away.
