Anyway to use my Quaife LSD from b16 in a GSR?
I recently blew up my b16 trans. I have a quaife lsd in it and was wondering if there was any sneaky way to use this in the gsr tranny i just bought. Id rather not have to buy a whole new LSD. Let me know.
You'll need B16 diff bearings, ring gear and its matching countershaft. Provided all of these are still good from the B16 trans.
i just put both the counter shaft and input shaft from the gsr in my b16 case with my b16 quaife and everything seems to be fine. You sure you have to use the B16 counter shaft?
Just drove the car with no problems at all. I'm using my b16 case, b16 ring gear on the quaife, Gsr counter shaft and main shaft with Gsr gears. Shifts like butter couldn't be happier!

Gear set. Gears wear with each other. In the case of a FD, its the ring gear and countershaft. Mix and match used gears and they will likely fail. Either like in the pic Bone posted or by shearing teeth.
I gotcha so they reason people say to switch the counter shaft was only
because it has mated with the ring gear. So the b16 counter shaft is
identical to the Gsr

Well well see how it works out. Both ring gears and both counter shafts looked mint with no pitting whatsoever
That doesn't matter. If there was pitting then that means its already failed and shouldn't be reused even with the matching gear.
gears holding up strong here. another 10 second pass after this and an 11.0 pass before it with crappy spark plugs.

i wouldn't expect an instant failure of any kind. or a matter of months. but the odds are something will go earlier than if it was all original.
