1995 Ex need transmission help, clicking? noise...
'95 EX w/ stock D16z6, I'll give the best details I can cause I'm not too great with transmissions but I'am good with fixing things with some help.
I don't know if this is relevant but I'll throw it in, for a couple months whenever the car was cold a squeaking sound would come from the transmission whenever the clutch was engaged but would go away after warm-up so I didn't put too much thought into it.
Anyway, recently a small low-pitched ticking sound would come from the transmission whenever I was at a stop and in Neutral, it wasn't too loud and would go away once I put the clutch in but today I was driving home and made a horrible down shift while turning which ended with a Brake and ABS light getting thrown, and the ticking idle noise went from quiet to much louder whenever I was at a stop and in neutral. I know for sure it's coming from the transmission and I took a quick look under the car and saw it was slow leaking what looked like oil from the bottom of the tranny. The best description of the clicking I can think of is if you tried to mimic the sound of a helicopter with your tongue/mouth or whatever, only a bit more high pitched. Also, if the problem is the tranny, why would an ABS and Brake light get shown?
Edit: I'm not sure yet if it is transmission fluid leaking or oil, it's too dark out to tell. Is it possible for the clutch to have come loose?

I'm gonna take it to a shop tomorrow after work and I'm sure they're gonna wanna just replace the tranny and pull as much money from me as they can. Anyone have an idea what that may cost for a new tranny?
Edit: I've been thinking about this for awhile now and looked up a few things online, could it be the input shaft bearing? Seems like that was the source of others problems who had the same thing. Car would idle nice and sound healthy with clutch engaged but would chatter/click/knock whatever when the clutch was disengaged.

ok, yes its possible it could be the input shaft bearing, and most likely thats what it is. I had one go bad on me before and was stupid and just paid to have my whole trans rebuilt for $1700 or something. Some other things it could possibly be (the key here is that is DOESNT make the noise when you have the clutch engaged) is the throw out bearing, or possibly even some broken fingers on the pressure plate. My advice if it IS the transmission, is to buy a used JDM one on ebay. I recently got one for less than $500 shipped to my door. Works great just like a brand new one and I think it even had slightly different gear ratios that made the car a little quicker.
good luck
good luck
Alright thanks, I'm hoping it's something like a bearing I can replace with some help from some friends. Last thing I want to do is buy a whole new transmission. The rpms are normal, it runs smooth, and shifts perfectly, just that damn noise and what looked like a leak but I haven't been able to jack the car up and look yet; So I'm hoping whatever the problem is it won't be too expensive.
