Default 88-89 hf weight difference

1988 (lb/kg) 1819/826
1989 (lb/kg) 1834/851

I thought these were identical cars, 15 lbs is something.

They both have door mounting seat belts and no side impact beams in doors, or so i thought. I couldnt find any answer in the crx weight differences thread or in the faq.

I thought only the 90-91 models had door mounted seatbelts? Also, the weights shown say that there is a 25kg difference between the cars, which is 55lb's.

all true

826kg = 1821lbs
851kg = 1876lbs

the sales brochure for the 1988 CRX does say that the HF weighs 1819lbs

the 89 model has different rear suspension from the 88 model

Yes my fault a typo, all 88s and 89 hfs have pillar mounted. Not door. I know.

So what is the weight difference?

I see people saying 89 hfs are the lightest, but it doesn't make any sence to me

Is it just the lower control arms and fork type shock on the 89's that differ?

90 doors (seat belt doors) cannot fit in a 88 chassis. it simply wont work.

you can put 88 doors on a 90 because there is more room for it.

joe, your car is NOT an 88.

I dunno, the vin indicates 10th position(year)= "j" =1988......
Maybe the the vin has been swapped, but the car has clean title????
