Default Accord engine info

I need to replace my moms engine in her 97 accord it has the f22b2. What I need to know is which engines bolt right up with no modification. I'm looking to find the newest engine I can find.. I don't care about more power as the car is driven by her and does not need to be faster.. Just reliable.. Any info would be great.. Thanks

f22b2 not vtec, f22b1 is vtec, that motor would drop right in with b1 ecu.

no mods would be the B2 and B1. but all F-series and H-series will fit with minor modifications.

If you want the no mods, newest engine, way to go. Replace it with another 96-97 F22B2 (JDM = SOHC Non VTEC F22B) (96-97) with low miliage. If you go JDM remember to keep your mothers original engine on hand in case you need to swap things like the distributor, coil, oil pump housing and any other sensors that may be delivered broken or missing.

Hi im new in this site, I have an accord 97 with a f22b4(is the japanese version of the f22b2) non vtc engine. My engine like one month ago blow up, so now i need to replace it, I went to a place here in houston where japanese engines are sold. The guy there offered me a f23a1 wich is the 98-2002 accord engine and he said it would match perfectly with my car. The thing is the f23a1 is a vtec engine, so my question is if my ecu wich isnt for that engine and my ecu isnt a vtec one, what do i have to do to put on work all the vtec functions of this engine? If it isnt possible for any reason am i going to have problem with this engine? and if someone know how many power am i going to have with this engine without the vtec working i will appreciate it

you shouldnt steal the thread, but this is your 1st time here, so its cool.

the f23 swap has been done. just get the correct ecu (vtec), out of the 98+ year accord. then wire the vtec solenoid straight to the ecu.
here is a thread that discusses a little bit about it.
