1991 CRX no spark
Hi, new poster and honda owner here! I have just aquired a 91 crx and it isn't starting. I have tested the coil and the ohm values are in spec. I took the ICM to the local parts house and they checked it,passed. The dizzy is only a year old. I dont have a decent tech manual on this car but by lurking and searching I did find and try a couple test. I am getting voltage to the blk/yellow wire with the key in the ON position. I getting no codes at the ECU. I can hear the main relay click and the fuel pump whirl . I can find no blown fuses. What is my next direction to go in? Thanks in advance guys
When I took the cap off, I saw spring. When you say contact point, are you speaking of the prong in the cap that slips inside the coil tower? Is there supposed to be one there because it isn't. I have also tested the continuity test through the switch in the steering column and it checked fine. ALso I am getting to volage to the blue wire at the dizzy in any key position, should I? I hate to sound ignorant, but I guess I am when it comes to this car. I am coming behind the person I bought it from so I have never heard/seen it run.
he's talking about the two things that jut out of the bottom of the cap. one is about half an inch long at the top of the cap, it contacts with the coil, the other one is in the center of the cap, it contacts the rotor.

It does turn over fine. I also had my girl try it with the dizzy cap off to make sure the rotor is turning. It doesn't sound like it has skipped time, but I am getting no spark at all. Back to one of my earlier quetions though, should I have 12 volts at the blue wire that is in the same plug as the blk/yellow one with the key on?
I have new cap and rotor on it. lol kinda got me stumped. Another dumb question though, is the red light in the ECU window supposed to be on or off? When I first get in the car and turn the key on I get 1 quick red flash and thats it. Is that normal?
OK, I have discovered that the light is supposed to flash on quick blink and then stay off if no codes appear. Next question, does anybody have a factory crx service manual they want to get rid of? The haynes one I have is junk....
OK guys update. I switched the ignitor on a whim, no go. I changed the main relay with one that was said to be good, now I am getting some sort of code. After I turn on the key and get my one short flash I get a pause then 16 short flashes, pause 16 short flashes pause 16 short etc....What does that mean?
Guys, Im at a loss... I performed an ignter input test. I am getting voltage to the BLK/YEL wire and the WHT/BLU with the key ON and I am getting it. I checked for continuity between the WHT and body ground and Im not getting it,nor the BLU to body ground. The test says it must be a broken WHT wire between the igniter and ecu or a bad ground. I checked them both, ground is good and no broken WHT wire. I didnt check the BLU to tach because it s getting late and I need to drive home. Im not trying to bore, but I need some knowledge if someone can help. Thanks again
not to be a jerk but just remember that if the fuel desnt get into the comebustion chamber it will not fire check if the injectors are opening if they are getting the right votage and if the resistor nox is working or if the ecu isnt the problem
