a little while ago my speedometer and my odometer stopped working first thought was that it was my speed sensor but there is no check engine light so the ecu isnt throwing a code

some help would be nice before i buy a new speed sensor

 

Do you have electrical continuity on the wire that runs between the VSS and cluster?

 

havent checked would you suggest splicing the wires for that or what

 

Do you have a multimeter to measure resistance or continuity? If so, measure continuity (<1 Ohm resistance) between the VSS and cluster ends of the wire. If there's no continuity, then look for a break in the wire and repair. Also check whether the problem is a bad terminal for the wire in the cluster or cluster connector.

 

that doesn't sound like the speed sensor... my speedo doesn't work at ALL but my tach is just fine. also, i'm getting a code 17 (speed sensor.)

 

just trace the wire down to the cluster.it just happened all of a sudden or were u messing with it and it happened?check the fuses if u havent already

 

my tach works fine its the odometer and speedo thats not working it just stopped working one day
