Need little help with motor swap with tranny still in car.
Is it possible to swap the motor on crx with stock single non vtec to single vtec without having to pull the tranny out.
I have been looking at other posts and found only the one that talks about swapping just tranny out while leaving motor in car.
just want to know if this is possible or if I'm gonna have to pull out the whole thing and assemble it after its out.

Good luck with it though.
Taking the tranny out with the motor makes it MUCH easier IMO.
Not quite sure how I would go about putting the motor onto the input shaft with the tranny in the car since I don't have a ton of tools.
Anyway - good luck!

you absolutely could take the engine out without removing the transmission, but I say you are making life WAY too difficult. you should pull the engine and trans out as a unit.
there are 4 engine mount brackets, and 3 of them tie to the transmission, while only 1 goes to the engine block. I think it would be MUCH more of a PITA to try and remove that one mount and unbolt the trans.. it just isn't worth it. the 3 other engine mounts are way easier to get to than the 8 or 10 transmission bolts. you would also probably have to take out your alternator and AC or PS, if you have either, to get enough room to maneuver the engine free of the transmission, and that is if you can get enough clearance between the IM and the brake booster/master cylinder without taking all that **** off too.
if you leave them hooked together, you will save yourself a lot of pain.

I've done it, but it was a gs-r shortblock...motor was already taken apart so I simply put the head on afterward.
