Deciding Exhaust
hey honda-tech
i own a 98 civic hx bone stock
i am still unsure wether i am going to modify my car or just save up some money for a newer honda/acura.
for the time being i need an exhaust system. i was looking at the Greddy SP2 and the Apexi WS2. my real question is to i need to buy headers along with the exhaust system?
Also is there somewhere i can purchase an oem exhaust or aftermarket for alot cheaper.
i am trying to spend as little as possible, simply because i have not yet made my mind up.
all replies will be greatly appreciated
thanks!

automatic or manual? If it's auto, *PLEASE* don't get a loud exhaust, it sounds really dumb.
Apexi WS2 is very quiet, and the best sounding IMO. You don't need to buy a header, it bolts up to the catback. They can be found NEW for around $400 if you know where to look.

I bought mine from thmotorsports. He's selling them now for $407 shipped, but if you live in IL, you'll have to pay sales tax:

This guy's got them for $350+ shipping, which probably comes out about the same:

if you're not looking at spending too much i'd just go a cat-back system or even just an Apexi rear sports muffler - which will give you a decent sounding exahust anyway (hopefully you've got a manual). A cat-back system won't make it sound that much louder compared to just fitting a rear muffler (unless you take out the resonator/silencer) - you will however get more of a "deeper" note; which is what I am planning to do to my EK.
Only go headers if you're trying to wring everything out of the engine as headers really only kick in at the top end of the rpm range - depends how far you want to go....
Good luck mate,

Humm... I had the same questions months ago about which exhaust to purchase, and people kept saying WS2. But I did it how I wanted, I went with the HKS HI Power catback. Sounds and looks better than most (the tip leans to a slight slant) looks awsome. People kept saying its sounds to loud? but its not, it has a nice deep, ,smooth tone, loving it. You "do not" need headers but since ur going with the catback might as well get one. DC sports are decent, but I got elderbrock. And if you ur looking for a stock one, you can buy mines
lol. Let me know brah.
