Icon3 how do you install the performance chip?

I have a 94 honda accord coupe 2.2L 4 cylinder. It is a little bit under powered so i bought a little chip to put in it. It is about 5 inches long and 3 inches wide and i just cant figure out how to install it. The person who told me to buy it said the computer should be behind the glovebox. I looked and saw no where to plug it in at. Help?

It is an ECU chip

Return it... those things are usually just a resistor in a box, that will give no performance gains.

It's an ECU signal hack, it may richen up your air to fuel mixture a little bit. Your not really going to see any gains from it. Other than a soot covered rear bumper, possible clogged EGR & catalytic converter and low MPG.

Get your money back and look into some other modifications. Like an Intake, Header & Exhaust. If you don't already have them that is. There are more gains to bolting on I/H/E than adding this hack will ever give you.

if u want to see gains like 10 or 20 hp...expect to spend more than that...the cheapest mod is probably a intake

I'll return the chip but i dont think i can really do much else for the car. It has high mileage and i don't think i should really put any large amount of money into it, unless you know something i can do. The chip itself only cost $20 at the performance shop in town. If I were really wanting to spend money on it i would first need to replace the entire exhaust, air intake, fuel injectors, ect. Would you have any tips on a cheap/ish way to give it a little more torque?

thank you cd5_801 and everybody else, ill look into the intake but it seems it could be a job putting it in and time is something i dont have too much of right now. Do you think it would be worth it putting it on a car with almost 200k miles on it with a bad skip when you put the AC on?

well IMO its a cooler look for your engine bay lol and its simple to install...your car will sound more beastly and will have a little gain. I heard it gives you better mpg too, but 200k is still baby for a honda motor if u have taken care of it like reg oil change air filter ETC..what do u mean a bad skip when u put the ac on?...your car will always feel heavier when you turn on the ac...is your car auto or stick

my car is auto. If my car is sitting idle or at a stop sign/light ect and the ac is on the engine will jerk pretty bad. It will shake the whole car. Ive checked and cleaned all the spark plugs and the oil is high quality and new.
it also leaks water like crazy when its on and its not from my anti-freeze and the ac barely works so i dont think its condensation, if that helps any.

On the chip.... don't use it. But to answer your question, the ECU is located behind the kickplate in the passenger side floorboard UNDER your glovebox. To install the chip would require removing the ECU from the car, removing the cover on the ECU, de-soldering the factory chip and soldering in your sooper chip.... all the while trying not to make a mistake that could require the need of another ECU at no cheaper than $75.

On the A/C.... pull your throttle body and clean the entire thing inside and out very well with a rag and carb/intake cleaner. Do the same with your IACV and before you re-install, go ahead and screw down the "wax ball" all the way to avoid the typical hunting idle issue that's common to the 5th Gen.

On the intake.... if you're mildly skilled with a flat head, 10mm, and 12mm ratchet/socket, you can finish the job in no more than 20 minutes

And before you respond asking "What's a Wax Ball?".... use the search feature in the top right of this page to clarify anything in my post that you may not understand (and ANY questions you may have). Hunting around these forums (using the SEARCH feature properly) and just reading will advance your knowledge quickly.

Aside from that, welcome to H-T

OP how many times do we have to tell you not to ues it? it is worthless

only way to get power is to mod the motor

1. intake
2. exhaust
3. cams
4. forced induction
5. some sort of swap
