I'm gonna do a front rotor conversion and was wondering if it's a must, to get gsr brake hoses. I did one for my buddie but it seemed really crammed. Will the gsr whose work fine. I'm wondering because imma get stainless steel lines. If it works, what year gsr recommended. Thanks that be all.

Im a amature on braking/suspension.. But I dont see why not if using GSR calipers. Maybe someone with experience can chime in!

 

It's the full knuckle rotor and caliper conversion. Just wondering if the gsr hoses would fit better. But thanks for the help. I'm also doing a type R brake booster and master cylinder conversion. It's my time attack ride.

 

Fit better as n closer to the knuckle? If so why not... The front end's are pretty much identical!

 

Also check the part numbers on the hose's....the may be the same parts number. May save u some time/headache/money

 

I used Integra flex lines when I did this swap. You'll also need the 4040 prop valve from a '94 - '97 non ABS Integra ('90 - '93 Integra will work as well but you will have to change the bracket bolted to the prop valve) The Si only uses a 3040 prop valve, not a 4040 like everyone seems to think it does.

 

use the gsr brake lines and the 40/40 prop valve.

my 92 civic si already has all wheel disc brakes. I'm just replacing the front with a gsr coversion. Will I still need to change the prop vavlve? The Si's normally come with all wheel disc. I'm also putting on a 00 type R booster and master cylinder. Can I use a line bender and bend my brake lines to mount up?

 

The Si and EX have the same front brakes, which are the same as the 94 and 95 Integra RS I believe (the only non ABS), aside from the knuckle. You already have the same caliper, rotor and pads. If you want an upgrade, do more research. Don't ask, it's out there.

 

the gsr front brakes are larger than the si and ex. it is recommended that you use a 40/40 prop valve and larger master cylinder. if you kept the same parts, your brakes will still work, just not to their full potential.

 

Just wondering, since my ride is a 92 civic si, comes standard with rear disc already, shouldn't it already have a 40/40 prop? For the brake booster, type R booster with master cylinder. Overall my car stops on a dime already, but why settle for less right.

 

No. It doesn't. I've personally done this swap on a '92 civic Si hatchback, I also own a '93 Si hatchback, they come with a 3040 prop valve (its stamped right on the upper half of the valve body where it meets the lower half) All other 5th gen non ABS civics came with a 3030 prop valve (including the EX coupe with its larger front brakes and rear drums.)

Type R is probably overkill, a non ABS RS Integra MC+brake booster would be fine, or even a '90 - '91 Civic EX sedan MC with the original brake booster.

All '92 - '93 Sis use the same small front brakes the CX/DX/VX came with, '94 ABS models (the only year ABS was offered on Si hatchbacks) came with larger EX style brakes. I believe '95s use small brakes.

 

what 40/40 prop valve will fit my 92 civic si? For the booster it should be alright, I've been mountain passing for the past 6 years, my brake work is pretty good.

The numbers? Are they the distribution between front and rear? I prefer a little more to the rear, so 30/40 might be great for me too. Thanks for the info totally helped me.

 

Prop valve needs to come from a non ABS '94 - '97 Integra if you want something that just bolts up ('98 - '01 use an EK style prop valve that looks completely different) '90 - '93 Integra will work, but you need to swap the mounting bracket for your old civic one.

 

you prefer a little more to the rear? why, i ask, are you even bothering with swapping gsr brakes in the front then?

 

Bigger front for straightline braking and a little more pressure to the rear to help turn in on tight hairpins like in autoX's. I believe I have all the need info. Thanks alot. Honda-tech the bomb. You guys are awsome.

 

No, the 94/95 EX and Si use the same 10.3in rotors, calipers and pads as the Integra RS, which has the same size parts as the GSR, just no ABS. Go to an auto parts place and look at their parts catalog.

 

I have a 92 si, so I got the smaller front rotors. I've seen the 94-95 civics, and they do have the integra size in the front. Imma have to replace mine though.

 

Yup, and the knuckles are different. How exactly, I am not 100% sure because I haven't measured them, but they are different part numbers and have different stamps on them.

 

Just to set the facts straight ex/si/ and gsr all use same rotor

The only difference is the gsr caliper is a little bigger
The ex/si are EXACTLY the same at least on ek's but then again this is on an eg so disregard me if eg's are different

 

if u dont know that 94-2001 gsr are all the same.. u should not be doing a brake conversion ... good luck
