proper lifting/jack location for rear end
hey guys, i know it's a dumb question but maybe it will save my life and the lives of others some day.
where is the proper lifting area for the rear end? i'll go ahead and guess that you place the jackstands under the lifting points by each wheel.
i've been doing some reading around, and people with different brand cars say that they lift with the rear tow hook.. is this ok for an 8th gen civic?
where is the proper location?

How will you be lifting it?
Jack stands should go right before the rear tires.
If lifting with some sort of rope/cable, then sure tow hook is fine.

if i used a rope on the rear tow hook, wouldn't that screw up the bumper? lol

To get both back wheels up at the same time....Yes....you can use the rear tow hook. That f**ker is stronger than u think. I've done it a dozen times to make suspension adjustments.

I always jack on the frame that goes down the car...if you get it in the right spot you get both wheels (on one side) up at the same time and have plenty of room to place your jack stands.
I've seen a car fall off of a jack that was being jacked on the toe hook. Scared the bejesus out of me. The whole rear of the car shifted to the left like 3 feet as it fell and crushed a nearby jack stand under the rocker/quarter panel and dented the area of the car pretty badly. Luckily no one was hurt.
