I picked up a '90 DX us EF owners only dream of. I work at a stereo shop and about 4 months ago a little old lady came in with a 90 dx hatch. Someone stole her radio and the cops got them and gave her back her stereo. I put it back in for her for free, it was really easy just slide it in the sleave. It was mangled a bit but easy enough took me about 30sec. I got it in gave her keys to her, and told her if she ever sold it let me know. A week ago she came back in. Well it broke down on her and wouldn't start. She said I could have it for $100. I said great I'll be over as soon as I get off. The car would not start. Turns out she was the original owner, and had all schedueld maintence done, with 107,000 on the ticker with a little rust on the quarters. It seemed to be a fuel problem to me. I got it towed to my house and I had the idea to give it a try. I hit the starter and it acted like it wanted to fire. I tried again, 2 times and got nothing. I put it to the floor and cranked for 15sec. It fired right up. Chirped into second comming out of my driveway. It ran great for a couple of days, then it started to hesitate at idle and low rpm. Give it gas and it would rev up and be fine. Then it acted like it didn't want to start, one day. I let it sit for a min. and it started up. No big deal. Then it stalled on me when I was getting lunch thursday and needed some ether to revive it. I got it back to the shop and I decided the fuel pump seemed to be the culprit. I swaped it out for a f-150 unit my friend had. Supposed to provide more flow. I changed the filter also. Still will not fire. It has spark I checked that. I took of the top cover on top of the t-body and it was wet in there so the fuel must be getting there. I took out one of the plugs and it looked pretty dry I figure that could have been from the ether. I have no idea what to do. Any help is greatly apreciated.

you can hear the fuel pump when you turn the key on, so it shouldn't be that. Sorry I forgot to add that.

I was just about to and ran out of time today. It did have spark though witch negates that idea also. Once on my crx I had the rotor fall off and it still had spark but was sparking at the wrong time it acted totally different though. it doesn't want to fire at all enless i add ether.

Anyone else think this sounds like a main relay ??? Im thinkin so because of your fuel pump issuses etc ....back me up
if the relay was bad , the pump and FI wouldnt be working at all....... check for codes, and then cehck for the dizzy....... a lot fo the times its on the dizzy...
but like hes sayin.... if he got fuel pump working, spark, i would dare to say its injectors, but he has a DX wich its DPFI....so its not that..... check for a bad dizzy cap, correct timing.....
remember a car only needs, air/gas/fuel to run....... basics to check for a non working car.....
Yea but sometimes when the main relays are going bad it works every once in a while, have you ever heard of people who get in there cars, and once it gets warm it dies, and they let it sit for 15 minutesa nd it starts right up? Main relay, it could be the main relay.

The big bad DX is still not starting.... I have replaced the cap and rotor now, it has the f-150 fuel pump, the new fuel filter, and I recently swapped out thorottle bodies to see if the injectors were clogged. The car persist to not run. I now know for a fact it is a fuel problem. I can pour gas directly into the thorottle body and it runs, then dies. I am now assuming it is the ecu. The main relay comes on every time, you can hear the pump. Does it seem like the ECU to anyone else? I am getting pissed off working on a stock honda, I am ready to start looking for a LS motor. I don't have enough cash to get one just yet, but if I can't get this turd running the drivetran is getting yanked, tired of ******* with it. If anyone wants a dx tranny with perfect syncros and 107,000 senior citizen miles, let me know. The motor will be for sale soon also. Not that anybody would want a DX mill.

yeah but it runs for like 15-30seconds, if you pour the fuel directly in the thorottle body. If it had spark problems it wouldn't fire at all, correct? When it runs it runs great, obviously super rich, but idles fine and every thing.
