Default Radio COdE??

I had my 00 Civic's battery disconnected for a while. I hooked everything back up and now I am getting a "COdE" on the OEM radio display. How can I go about fixing/unlocking my radio?

Pull the radio to get the serial number. Go to a dealership with the serial number, they will ask for your registration and look up the code for you.

Is that the only way? I dread having to remove the headunit on a 00 Civic....

if you have the original owners manual it should have it in there. check your glove box too, something they put a sticker in there with the code if not then yes going to the dealer with your radio's serial and registration is the only way.

Ok, I figured out that my OEM Honda radio is not the one that came with the car. I was anle to find the five digit code, but it didn't help since this is not the original headunit....

What now?

Depending on your dealer, if the radio isn't original to the car, they may charge you for that service.

You can get the code online from honda if you have all of the correct information:
https://radio-navicode.honda.com/

Somehow I doubt you do though, if the radio did not come with your car. You'll need the VIN of the car it was originally installed in, the phone number and zip code of the last person a Honda dealer sold the car to, and the serial number of the radio. I used that site after mine was out for 5 years and I had to put it back in... but I bought my car almost new from a Honda dealer. I was lucky that I still remembered the phone number and zipcode I'd had 5 years before.

My radio is a OEM radio for a 99-00 Civic. It is not the original headunit that came with the car. The numbers on the headunit are:

Top metal of headunit - M4G429018
Back of headunit - M4F429020A

Thanks for any codes or help anyone can provide.

one way to get radio codes on some hondas: radio off, key on, hold 1 and 6 turn radio on while doing this. should show up 8 digit serial number. call your honda dealer with that number. they should give you the code.
