Aren't there just 2 screws at the ends?

Drill out pop rivits

buy new pop rivits and a gun, or you can just glue the vin on and cut off the excess of the pop rivit and it looks good either way.

20min or less.

I drilled the OEM rivets and re-rivet the plate when swapping from blue to black.

Did the same...drilled out the rivets and pop riveted VIN on new dash. I can't imagine why they'd have a problem if the VINs matched the vehicle. If you want to be really slick, get some anodized black rivets so it looks OEM. Or use a sharpie.

i had the dash out ahd broke the nubs on the back of the rivets
vin tag came off
3m taped it to the new dash..with the same rivets. looks factory.
by law you have to use the vin from the car and use rivets..
