soo i was driving at 11:33 pm when a cop decides to pull me over. he told me he pulled me over because i had a modified exhaust. it wasnt stock. so i told him i had no clue it was really loud and that i have a silencer in the trunk i can put it on. He said "it doesnt matter , it is illegal to have a Non-stock muffler in the NEw YOrk State." SO i had no clue it was illegal to have a non-stock muffler on. also i bought this car from a dealer like amonth ago and they didnt tell me it was illegal to have this muffler on. The cop Said i either b Pleaded guilty or not guilty.On THE TICKET IT SAYS DESCRIPTION: LOUD MODIFIED EXHAUST Does any1 have and Advice on what to do plzzz. Thanks alot. this fcked up my whole night and everything =/

Here is the EXHAUST with the Silencer on which i didnt have on tonight.

 

pick up a stock muffler, put it on, defend your ticket saying you fixed it. Then afterwards, throw your, what looks to be like a loud piece of ****, back on.

why not just get a apexi ws2, or something? quiet, looks stock and sounds great.

 

do u have a estimate on how much the ticket will be. and tomorrow ima prob get a stock muffler from the dealer that i bought my car from. and i got a Friend who has sum1 that'll try to get the ticket cleared. hopefully everything goes smooth. also my friend said if i have Cats(catilac converters) in my exhaust its legal.. do u kno anything bout that ??

get the stock cat off an rsx, put the type R exhaust on it, and get the muffler form the rsx. plenty of support for boltons, good sound, and looks stock.

**** spending 4-500 on a damn exhaust. the ITR exhaust is 2", the rsx muffler sounds awesome, and since the rsx has a 180+ stock motor, the cat will flow better then yours.

a little bit of ingenuity and some modification, you have OEM exhaust parts, better sound, and better flow

your exhaust in that picture looks pretty obvious that it isnt stock to anyone who listens or looks at your car from any distance away

 

A fix it ticket in CA is $10 once you get it corrected. The CHP will sign the ticket off for free.

 

Cops must be dicks in NY... Here in Texas, I was running a straight pipe with no catalytic converter from the header for a while and the car sounded crazy loud and cops never cared.

I've gotten pulled over 3 times in 1 day before back when i had my 240sx with hella loud exhaust but i never got a ticket, they always just gave me warnings. just say that the exhaust was on the car when you got it and that its really hard to find stock replacement parts for a 17 year old car.

 

same problem here. he pulled me over for the same ****.
i ended up paying $134 ticket.
fuking cops. i hate them ******

See I never get pulled over for exhaust, but cops hate cars that look like they race here in Texas. I got pulled over one night because there was reports of a black civic racing (isn't that unusual). After not being able to do anything, he finally says that my HID's are illegal and impounds my car.

i'v been pulled over a few times. but i can see the silencer in your muffler. you should have told the cop that the silencer's in there already and there's nothing else you can do about it.

 

flow master looks stock sounds good on a b-series (never heard on on a single cam), and flows pretty good

 

dont buy from factory they are going to rape you.
you HAVE to have a cat, no matter what, if you dont its illegal. if you dont that could be a reason why its so loud,

freind got pulled over with his spec II and had to pay $134 about 3 weeks ago.
he didnt have a cat, some places if they find out you have no cat you can get like a 1000 dollar ticket.

 

yeah i got a few out in WA state im running a straight 3" exhaust. Seems to be ok with the ohio cops though. Just pay it..its the price of havin a "modded car"

 

it all just depends on the cop, the day, and if hes bored or not. at least in wa, i was in a group of cars coming down mildred, i was in the middle, and i get stopped for a no front plate.
funny, i had a straight pipe back to a apexi n1 muffler with a built h22 never got 1 ticket,

 

get something thats not as loud or go back to stock for awhile or atleast till after u handle that ticket

 

In WA the law is "if it's anything other than stock its illegal". Sounds like it over in NY too. I got pulled over but didn't get a ticket. He said to put a silencer in it. But did I?.......No

 

why would you not roll with the silence? its not going to effect your power, and its going to queit the car down a little bit

honestly I think its foolish not to use one
