Honda Accord 2002 LX Sedan Transmission Problem
Hi, my transmission jerks when it shifts gear. It is an automatic. I called the dealer and they said it would cost an estimate of 2800 or 3800, i forgot what they said, to fix it. My car has 64k miles. I bought the car from another person. Should I get it fixed or should I try to sell the car? If I do get it fixed, what are the chances that the transmission will mess up again?
Thanks

honda had a extended warrenty on your model to 107000 miles, they had a bad vendor that made defective parts as im told, these got into some of the transmissions, they replaced mine at no charge with 107000 miles 2 yrs ago. id get hold of honda america, or try honda.com and see what they have to say. i have had no problems since they did the work on mine

no they did not have an extended warranty on the 02 models it was only for the 00-01 cars. Ask HOA if they will offer goodwill assistance. I would not go independant shop rebuild as most of them have no clue what to do with a hondamatic. I went to Kennedy Transmission (you can find that thread in the archives) and they had to rebuild the transmission 4 times and they still didn't get it right.
Yea, I asked American Honda about the extension warranty but said something about only 6 year warranty/36,000 miles. I asked them 2 weeks ago and this person sent me a mail and told me to contact them, so i did but he was busy, so i asked if he could call me back, they said yes, but he never called back. I can't find any recalls or extended warranty.
Thanks for the help

has the dealer diagnosed the problem?
If so contact Honda of America and ask them if they would consider assisting you with the repair since the car has less than 70K on it. they (if you are nice) should offer some assistance and might even pick up most of the repair cost.

It always helps that you're showing brand loyalty and supporting the local dealer network. They are (however), very keen on customer satisfaction and with that knowledge you may nevver know, they just might help
