i have been searching and trying to read up on it..but my question is i have a 96 civic lx and ive been wanting to drop a vtec into it but am i gonna have to rewire it or can a just swap the motor and go..im good at doing the swap not too sure on the wiring..

 

put a y8 vtec head on it or just swap a whole y8....easy.....

 

your going to need to do more than just swap the head you also need an ecu from an ex along with the head and possibly some wiring for the knock sensor or something maybe.

 

get the 96-98 harness it will be easier this way, get the ecu, head, and all plugs, and bolt her on.
this would also be a good, time to do timing belt,water pump, replace seals, gaskets etc.

 

knock, oil pressure switch, vtec solenoid are the wires you need to run to the ecu(P2P). fairly simple. mini-me swaps are very common.

 

sounds good i appreciate it..i planned on doing the water pump and ect...just make life easier down the road
