I had that problem with two of my plugs. Turns out the round gaskets that go between the spark plug slot on the head and the valve cover were gone. Check those. The white smoke does sound like a head gasket though.

this is happening to my friends sr20det motor, the rubber rings that seal the spark plugs are shot to **** and they are on backorder since they have to come from japan. This is why his plugs have oil on them and can lead to smoking. But another reason he has smoking problem is due to his oil seal on the turbo going bad i believe, i assume you are running turbo? a faulty oil seal on the turbo wont give you oil on the plugs though... replace the rubber rings.

replace the rubber rings so no oil leaks into the sparkplug chamber and see how it goes from there.
