99 Civic Si CarPC --- Phase 2
This is my wife's car and Phase 1 CarPC can be found here ---> ( http://forums.clubsi.com/ubbthreads....Number/2510094 )
Phase 1 setup lacked a radio, which the wife needs, and the amp wasn't really providing a good sound. So, I decided to redo the entire setup.
For Phase 2, I removed the amp and went with a head unit instead. The headunit is a Kenwood unit. At first I had installed the stereo in the cubby where the OEM cupholders are located. After driving the car for a while we knew that the location was way to low to be managing the system. After fining that the Acura model of this same car in Canada came with a nice piece that has the stereo right below the double din, I was able to find it and purchase it.
This is how the finished system looks. The stereo is located right below the double din screen and it's right at the finger tips of the driver. The stereo has the bluetooth adapter, so talking via the phone is seamless.

Here is a little close up of the system with the CarPC turned on. Little glare due to the flash.

This is a close up of the stereo. It fits perfect in the space. To the right of the stereo is a USB port
What I did was to remove the cigarrette lighter but used it's holder and molded a USB extension onto it. It came out really nice and OEM looking.

The same computer was used in the same location.

Any questions, let me know

The CarPC is a computer that is connected to the car. It integrates into your sound system and provides music, gps, etc. It's basically having a computer, no different that a home pc, in your car.
The screen is a Lilliput 629 molded onto a double din kit for the Si.

How much of the bottom portion of the screen did you have to cut for fitment? I guess you can just slide the bezel in and out to access the controls on the screen as well?

Comes off a Canadia Civic Si clone, I think it's an Acura 1.6L. It bolts right up since it's basically the same care as the Si or other similar Civics.
Hmmm, depends on what you get. The system, just in parts would be around 600-800 dollars. The stereo is another 300 bucks because of the bluetooth. So, you're looking at 900-1000+ dollars. This is if you install everything yourself.
I built it myself, that was my site before, but I quit doing it as a business and that's why it goes nowhere. Currently there are other options now that are easier in regards to the computer itself.
