Default F23 cam options

I've been looking for a cam for my f23 and so far I havn't found any options beyond what Crower can do for existing cams as far as regrinds or hard facing. I'd rather not do either of those because I don't want to lose my car for as long as it takes for my cam to be ready. I've heard that Crane Cams makes a cam for the F23, though I have not seen one under their application charts. I wanted to know if you guys have seen any other options or what any of you have done.

so has anyone here gotten an F23 regrind cam? I always hear about a friend of a friend having good luck or bad luck, but I've never seen anyone post up results from first hand experence. I've been thinking about doing it but do you think a regrind would yield a decent gain of hp? I might be able to borrow a cam from a friends existing F23 that is just sitting around his garage now so my accord will be able to run while I wait for the regrind.

web cam inc:

http://www.webcamshafts.com/honda-auto.html#9

i think you'll get better performance upgrades from this then full i/h/e combo.

and LOL you can use my extra cam if they need it before you get the regrind, but i bet they have cores there already and you'll just have to return the old cam once you install the new one

so I called up web cam, and they said that I would have to send them in the cam shaft they don't have any cores lying around. It would also be about a 3 week turn around to get it back. it would be a custom regrind, and they said to fill out the sheet on their site with the spec of what I want. I'd want a good idle and I'd just be using it for street purposes, I wouldn't need anything too hardcore. they also said it would run about $340 for the regrind, and they would take care of payment after the regrind. I'm going to ponder this for a few days, I'm seriously thinking about it.

so does anyone know roughly how much hp I could hope to see with a conservative regrind for street use? if I could get around 10 I think it would be worth it, but anything less and it would be a waste of money.

intresting, I'll definately hit him up about it. where did you get your reground cam? Grude, or web cam? how much do you pay for it, and how agressive is the regrind?

I can't check honduh till afterwork today. I'm at a different location for work today. I can check out honda-tech, and HAN, but Honduh got blocked on me.

I sold him a Gude Camshaft. I got it off ebay from some guy who was parting out since he was going H22. All I know is that its a "mild" regrind and thats it. It was for a F22 cuz I used to own a 5th gen. I also got a JG throttle body from the same guy.

I forget how much I paid for it. Ebay occasionally has some up forsale. I remember seeing a guy selling a few Gude regrinds for around $300.

For those who dont know, GUde also goes by BullFrog. BullFrog was their older name. I have an issues of SCC where they featured a white EG with the D16 running a BullFrog cam. He said he gained noticeable power from it so I was sold on Gude. Ididnt start hearing bad things until I joined the Forum boards.

When I emailed Gude for prices they responded fairly quick so I have no complaints.

i drive 2000 accord 4cyl, automatic... got gude head package, PnP head, tb, IM, cam+I/H/E and greddy e-manage...i had the cam advanced 2.5 degrees, and the total power at the wheels are 154.1hp and 144.5 ft/lb(mustang dyno) from around 120ish stock, not quite the 50 whp the're claiming, but stilll fun to drive...I HAVE NO DRIVABILITY ISSUES, but that is mostly taking care of during tune.

is it GOOD?BAD? its your decision...I like it, it is definitely a lot quicker then stock

those are some pretty respectable numbers for an F23 accord NA. I got my car dyno'd on a dyno dynamics and threw down 128.7 with an I/E/highflow cat.

I'm going to be adding a header soon, and most likely a cam now. how agressive was your gude cam? did you just have your cam reground for street purposes with a good to fair idle? you're the only person I've run into that actually has the gude head package, its good to hear what the results are.

there are none, IMO

ive yet to hear a good thing from people who have directly bought from gude. unless your making some SERIOUS NA power, ive yet to see mass market regrinds being used usefully....but hey, thats just my opinion

i have the package with street/streep grind and good idle around 900 rpm....it "diesels" a little, but i dont mind, i actually like the sound. yes, of course i would have preferred turbo, but thinking to go nitrous instead, with progressive controller, so i can spray small % early in the shot and gradually built to a full shot(less stress on engine, axles, and auto tranny)

i'm happy with my set up, be it gude, or any other company, you are NOT going to get a lot more power out of this type of set up, ****...for the same money i would have went turbo. AND I KNOW THAT!!! And please be real..., in order to talk about SERIOUS NA power, you shouldn't talk about which company you got your cam from or who ported your head, but how far have you gone into your built up, such as high compression pistons/rods, stroking your motor, etc, thats when one can expect some serious NA power, plus i can always ADD turbo, or nitrous, and have an advantage since some of the work was already performed. as far as drivability, i have no issue...the car retained its stock pick up at low rpms, nice mid and a pretty mean and long pull at the top so GUDE this and GUDE that, but show me a company that offer similair package, compare the dyno numbers, and let me know if THEY JUST KILL GUDE IN PERFORMANCE, talk is cheap, prove me wrong maybe some place can muster 10-15 extra hp, but i would question their reliability...i've had my gude package for over 3 years now with no complaints.

P.S. when you say you havent heard anything good out of GUDE, does that mean you hear ONLY BAD or just not enough to form your opinion either way?
