rear disc conversion question on master cylinder
planning on doing a conversion on an EF.
i wanted to get as big as possible brake master cylinder that is a direct bolt on..
i am planning on ordering a brand new brake master cylinder.
i guess the biggest i should go with is the 15/16. it dont think the 1inch master cylinder will work as a direct bolt on, i think they are ABS cylinders. ill also need a new booster too.
im not sure which year/model integra i can use. as the shop only knows makes/model/year for ordering not actual part descriptions.
so i need to give them the exact car info to buy this.

Is it possible to not swap the master cylinder or prop valve? I'm installing rear discs off a 90 DA on my 91 SI tomorrow and I just have the rear assembly and new trailing arm bushings. Not sure what else I need.

yeah you can use it like that..i had them like that for about 4 months, BUT! your braking power sux! you step on the pedal and it takes a while to slow down..you dont necessarily need the brake booster and M/C but you do need the 40/40 prop valve to distribute the fluid correctly to the bigger brakes
Thanks for the help luna and alex and sorry if im thread-jacking. Does anyone have the part number for that valve handy? I'm going to try to get one ASAP.

Yes; the former brake setup was smaller, and most likely utilized rear drums. The new, larger setup requires a greater amount of fluid to be forced to the calipers in order to have sufficient brake pressure.
Without the 4040 prop valve, there will be a lag in braking power because the brake fluid was not evenly distributed between the front and rear calipers.

yup, if you need any of the parts, I have the stock 90 civic EX 15/16 MC and brake booster, and the 40/40 valve. If you use this one, it is a direct bolt on, and no modifications like with the Integra one. You need the booster with the 15/16 MC because of the fact that they use less pedal pressure to achieve better braking power. If you just swapped a 15/16 MC onto the 13/16 booster. You would have a squishyish pedal and you would have to depress the brake more to achieve the same braking power from the whole 15/16 set up.
what happends if i keep the 13/16 MC and booster, which is stock on my car, but only swap out the 4040 for this setup?

you get a pedal like mine, where they stop your car GREAT!! but there's a lot of pedal travel. i have stock front std brakes, da rear brakes, new pads all around, 4040 prop valve and a 13/16ths mc.
so which is better?
the master cylinder and booster from a:
90-91 ex civic
or
90-93 LS integra non abs
(not sure if this correct)

You have a 91 SI right? It should already have rear discs. What are you swapping discs on it for?
