Pros and Cons of Wheel spacers
I am interested in some wheel spacers for my CRX. I just wanted to learn more about the basics of wheel spacers and understand some of the good and bad things about them.
Also, what would be the biggest spacer thats safe to use with stock studs?

Ability to fit wheels with too high of an offset to otherwise fit.
Ability to change bolt pattern with a really thick one.
Cons:
More points of potential failure.
In theory, increased stress on wheel bearings.
Difficulty in fitting wheels without a massively high offset when a lug pattern changing spacer is used.
Biggest spacer for stock lugs? About 5mm.
Be sure to use a spacer that preserved the hub centric mounting of the wheel.
Pros:
Increased track width for more grip.
More clearance for larger tire and brake calipers.
Cons:
Increased scrub radius that affects steering response.
Increased stress on wheel bearings.
Change of motion ratio and caused the suspension to feel softer.
The benefit from the increased track width pretty much outweighs all the cons tho. It also allows some "fine tuning" of the suspension. For example, when you're at the track and it started raining, put some spacers in the back could stabilize a tail happy car that is fast in the dry.
