I have a 89 crx with a d15bvtec motor, mpfi swap etc... blah blah.. it has run fine for the most part for about 35k miles and today i ran into a new problem...

Crank it up and it turns over, fires up and dies as soon as you let go of the key... remote start it however and it runs fine and idles fine.....put the key in the run position after remote starting it and press the brake and it dies again ( Remote start it supposed to die when the brake is pressed, but if the key is in the run position it should shut off the remote start only and let the car keep running)...crank it about 20 times and then it runs fine.. run it for an hour and then shut it off and it does it, crank it cold and it does it... any ideas? I am thinking maybe a bad ign. switch.....

sounds exactly like a bad ignition switch to me, but feel free to test it further if you like

i have a remote start on my car as well and it helped me determine that my ign switch was fine and that my starter was actually at fault. it wouldnt crank with the key or via remote start lol.
