I use this stuff called Back To Black. All you do is wipe it on, it's sort of like Armor All, but it's made for black trim & rubber.

If I were to go the paint route, should I mask off what I don't want sprayed? Then just go at it? Also, Would motor oil work? I had an oil leak that was spraying out the back of the car, and where it covered the rear black part it looks good...

i would suggest pulling them off.make sure you don;t bvreak the clips.your gonna have to get to the back side of the moldings to get them.if you wnato mask it off with it on the car go ahead but i think ,you;ll be better off doing them off the car.

My CRX is black, i painted my molding with high gloss, high heat engine paint and they look great. They match almost perfectly with the paint on the car ......... Oh yeah, i also painted my front bumper and fender with the same paint and nobody could even tell that it wasnt from the factory. I will get some pics up soon.

black shoe polish works great and won't rinse off with water.

i was putting oil in my car one day and spilled it on my bumper. I tried to clean it off but ended up smearing it all over my bumper. So i said what the heck, and wiped it all over the bumper, looked sooo shiny and black. It lasted for a couple weeks too. I was impressed and shocked at my mistake could make my bumper look good.

I just painted my wiper arms with some high temp semi gloss black paint from autozone. It came out really really nice. Its not flat and dull, but its no where near shiny. I also coated my stock air box with it 3-4 times, to give it some heat resistance, it made it look brand new. Now when I drive, the intake arm and box are ice cold.

If you ever plan on having the bumpers painted then you really don't want to use any of the oily, silicon-laden products being pushed by everyone here.

I'm not saying that some Black Magic won't make it shinier, because it will, but if you ever want to get it painted it will be hard to get the deep down silicon out and it will fish eye like hell.

Ask me how I know this.

I have a 1990 STD hatch in red that I'd like to get the bumpers painted O.E correct with the black trim in place. I'll probably have to buy new bumpers when I go to get the bumpers color-matched.

The secret is out!!!

Just don't put too much on or it'll run and allow some time to dry before you get it wet or get dew on it. I came out to a lot of runs in the morning because of putting it on late at night in winter. But it works so good, I don't need to put it on anymore, just one time coat is good.

there is black molding tape you can use, which i used on my silver trimmings to make it black. Just go to most any auto store - they should have it. Its good cause if you don't like it, you can peel off again. It stands the weather perfectly if applied right.
