Low rpm vibration only, its gear based, help
Ok i'm having a great time getting my car running right. I had a bad humming sound up until monday i changed both my axles and totally cleared the issues up i was having.
Now after changing both axles i'm having a gear based vibration in 2nd and 3rd gear in between 2k and 3k when i'm taking off coming from my passenger side. Once i get past 3k rpm it completely clears up in those gears. I feel this vibration mainly in the gas pedal not really the steering wheel
I don't notice anything in 1st gear,4th gear or 5th gear that is noticeable. I cruise i-95 to work everyday around 2.5-3k rpm and it runs smooth in 5th gear..
any ideas for things i can checkout??

I'm having the same exact problem but only in low 2nd gear. When it shifts from right when it shifts to 2nd, accelerating up to about 3500rpm or so. I replaced the d/s axle (complete) and thought that it might be the right side now. I would venture that it might be a bad axle that I replaced it with but the fact that it's only in 2nd gear causes speculation that it might be something else.
Any ideas anyone?
Let me know if you hear any news Samuels.

i did see where my tranny torque mount was busted i filled it with polyurethane today but i highly doubt that is the cause will find out tommorow after the mount cures.
It is starting to vibrate a very little in 1st and 4th.. It clears up completely in every gear after 3k rpm but is very noticeable in 2nd and 3rd gear almost like the wheel is wobbling.
I jacked it up did the 12 and 6 o'clock shake and the 3 and 9 o'clock shake everything thier seems good..
I do have a very little wiggle where my axle goes into the tranny if i shake it hard i rear somewhere that might be a bad bearing but i don't know..
Anyone know how i could test the halfshaft to see if its bad?
I'm leaning toward my new axle being junk outta the box but i dunno..
A transmission counter shaft bearing or final drive bearing could be bad. Drain your tranny fluid and have it checked just to be sure. If you notice it's really dark right away, flush it and try again with new fluid. If it still makes the sound and your fluid starts burning again, it's bearings.
To check the intermediate (half) shaft you can pull the axles & try driving in place (tape off the diff first), but without the torque resistance it doesn't always give adequate results unless the bearing is considerably toast.
Lastly, check your clutch fluid & adjustment, and be sure it's fully engaging. Sometimes old clutch springs break and cause partial slipping, feels really weird.

gonna change the tranny fluid on friday.
I just jacked the whole front end off the ground and got my girl to go thru the gears and hold it at the worst spot 2.5k rpm in 3rd gear..
The drivers side did'nt even spin but i guess that is normal so i'd assume the halfshaft was'nt spinning either so maybe its okay.
The passenger side wheel seemed to have a slight wobble but i really could'nt see it that great with it spinning. I could defintely see the tranny casing with a slight vibration and the axle looked like it might have a slight wobble..
bump, I'm at a loss. It really sounds like bearings if you're getting the vibration without road contact, but I'd definitely recommend a tranny flush first.
You could be experiencing vibration simply due to excessive friction, debris, or thermo breakdown in the lubrication.
