Default Sprint springs

I had a quick search but couldn't find much in reviews, apart from some people finding them too hard on certain shocks.

Are they any good? Their website doesn't give much away.

I'm thinking about putting them on Bilstein "Sprint" shocks, lol

Thanks

do you have the 3.5" or 2.5" ones?

im looking at 2.5" (60mm) for my EE9, but ive also read people find they drop less than stated.

Dope, you bought them. Here are the extreme versions (3.25"/3.0"). Soft and smooth ride, not recommended for track use.

You'll need something like Koni Sports to properly handle a 3" drop. Tokico HP's will not work well and the car will probably bottom out all the time.

i can tell by the winding those rates are not that firm. what a poorly designed piece. 3" drop and mild rates. talk about a header - oil pan killer.

Nope not firm at all, soft and comparable to Eibachs. You have to remember that the engineering for these were done years before the issues with headers and swaps in "slammed" cars were abundant. They were made to give a soft ride at a low stance (for cars at the time which were near stock) and have done so successfully. Low headers and swaps werent an issue until their popularity arose after the springs were designed and produced.

Im running stock everything under the hood, the suspension will bottom out/upper arms will contact the chassis way before the oil pan reaches the ground. Of course with a swap or even 4:1 header it will be a different story.

185/60/14, fronts rub the fender on turns, rears rub the top of the fenderwell on big dips... just a couple issues youll have right off the bat.

Someone explain this to me please. With a 3" drop, the front suspension has VERY little room to compress. If these springs have so-called "soft" rates, then how could the ride possibly be smooth? To have a smooth ride would mean the suspension isn't bottoming out, and with that much of a drop on "soft" rates, I would think the suspension would bottom out ALL the time, giving anything but a smooth ride.

I agree, "smooth" and "soft" may be contradicting terms. What I meant was, in comparison to higher rated springs, the rebound with the Sprints are not as quick or stiff. They also are not so soft that it consistently bottoms out. Only when head on with larger dips would the issue of bottoming out arise. On average sized dips there is enough suspension travel to contain the impact, at least with my setup.

Both low and high rated springs have their version of discomfort when head on with disturbed pavement, even when matched with properly valved shocks. "Soft" was the description I gave the Sprints as opposed to "hard" for higher spring rates. I was simply describing the feel of a ride based on a spring's recovery speed and level of intensity between different rates.

As far as the term "smooth", its all relative to an individual's perception of comfort. Hard+smooth vs. soft+smooth... all can be contradicting terms but can also be used to loosely describe the feel of a ride.

I have the green springs on my crx which is a 3" drop in the front and 3.5 in the back if I recall. I have tokico illuminas and it only bottoms out in the front over really bad potholes.
