Default question about rod bearing failure

I replaced the rod bearings about six months ago, now its gone back to ticking like it was. I was going to tear it back down and check my pistons and rings. Anybody know what could be causing this problem? Thanks

well your rod bearings probobly wore out the first time, now six months later since u didnt rebuild it correctly using plastiguage ect.... it failed again... thats the most plausible... but could also be bad oil pump, contamination, or your last "bearing failure" damaged the maincap or rod/crank, which in turn casused a new rod bearing failure

what did you replace with, you need to find your bearing clearance and get the right size bearings

Hmm good question, the actual work the first time was done by the shop under the 6mo warranty. He said he replaced the rod bearings. Showed me the old ones. The motor has approx 75000 miles on it.

It's a 1.6l v-tec(d16z6) it's ticking noise most noticable from 2000-4500 rpm, which seems to be coming from the engine itself not the valves.

ask the guy who did it what the clearances were, or see if he checked the clearances. just throwing a set of bearings in will not last. do a valve adjustment yourself.

any reason the bearings were replaced that early?

I'll be doing the work from here out.

The only reason I had him do it was lack of time and I couldn't be with out a ride. Honestly I have no idea what caused them to fail so quickly.

I plan on tearing it down myself this time. I'll also be changing head gasket and timing belt while its open. Anything else I should check besides bearing clearances and valve adjustments?
