Good evening all, im looking to get some stiffer spring rates for my ride(88 CRX Si) but i do not want to lower it at all as i dont want issues with my 205/40/17 wheels/tires rubbing. Since it seems pretty much impossible to find stiffer springs that dont lower the car i need to go coil overs. So which set of coil overs will allow me to stay at stock height. I hear the ground control sleeves are good but they list a .5" drop as the max height on the sleeves and i want to stay as close to stock as possible, .5" would be fine but i have seen it posted that thats not possible with the GC sleeves and its closer to a 1" drop at max height and thats not what i want. How high will the skunk 2 sleeves go? I have KYB AGX shocks if that matters so im looking for sleeves only no combo's with shocks. Also have converted to 89-91 rear LCA's. Thanks guys!

 

Personally I would loose the 17"s in favour of 15"s, but hey.

You could certainly go with Koni:

- Koni Yellow with S2 sleeve coilovers turned all the way up will keep stoch ride height and even more (have them myself so I know)
- Koni 1130 (yellow + Koni springs) should do the same in the normal (or high) position but hen you cannot fine-adjust
- Koni 1150 should also be able to keep stock height but I'm not sure on this.

 

another option with the koni yellows and ground control would be to use the higher perch setting or see if 9" springs are available.

 

what he said. measure your springs and buy custom springs with a tad bit stiffer rates.

 

Thanks for the reply's, yes i am aware that i should use smaller wheels, that said i got a wicked deal on the 17's and they have brand new Falken RT-615 tires on them so untill i burn off this rubber ill be keeping them, then i will go with some 15's. I also have Brand new KYB AGX shocks and will be keeping them so no Koni's for now. I will see if GC offers a 9" spring.

 

GC uses eibach race springs so they can get them in any length, any rate and various widths

Now if they would just respond to the e-mail i sent them over a week ago i will look into what length/rate spring i will need.

 

call them, john is really helpful with this sort of thing. i just ordered up a set of 500/450 springs today and he called back to inform me the 450s are testing at 430lb. they are really on top of the game. use the phone, not email. you'll cover more ground and faster.
