1996 Honda Accord LX
Just received second opion on my Honda today and was told that I had an internal engine problem. Something has come loose or missing...52,000 orignal miles on it.
Anyone else ever had this problem with their Honda with low mileage?

Told me that they would have to tear engine down to find what's causing the problem, it sounds like something is hitting against something. I have no oil leaks, no dummy lights come on, trans is shifting smoothly, just loud tapping and squealing noise at times.

As required by mileage or by date?
it's ironic how this topic comes up just as someone posted in another therad that the age of an engine has no bearing on it's performance. "It's the mileage that matters"...lol this is a perfect example of that age and maintenence matters just as much as mileage.
If I were to guess at what it was, based on the small amount of information given, it would be a spun bearing due to poor oil quality. But that's going off no physical evidence. I haven't heard the knock nor do I know the maintenance of the engine.

While 52K miles on a '96 honda is rare, it does not mean the engine is toast because it is 13 years old....by your thinking my 94 honda with 168K on it would be on it's last leg becuase it is 16 years old.....for all we know it could have been a manufacturering defect in the motor.
dude if you are doing proper maint on your engine age doe NOT matter. A grandma could have a 69 chevy that she drives 10 miles each way to the market once a week and as long as she did the maint as required, then engine would still be in perfect working order today with about 32K on it........my uncle had 2 1956 cars a chevy and a pink caddy with less than 50K on them back in the arly 90s and both engines were original and worked just fine

Slowly untwist and remove panties from ***. RTFP
52000 original miles? that doesnt seem right, thats 4k a year. so im going to guess its knocking with a spun bearing. maybe its not but anytime you have someone tell you its something loose in the engine, just realize thats going to be a new motor, especially for a f series too comon and cheap to not just replace
OK I apologize for piggy-backing this thread but I am new to this site and cannot start my own thread. I was just wondering if anyone knows where I can find a diagram of the in dash fuse box (including relays) for a 96 Accord EX 2.2L. Or if anyone knows the part number for a starter cut relay for that model please let me know. I have been unable to start my car and when I tested it I am not getting power to the starter (smaller wire) but when I turn the key I am getting voltage through the starter fuse under the dash. Any ideas what else I should check? And once again, my apologies for interrupting this thread...

so go make 5 posts, and wait 15 days, but dont jack someones thread. i could see if it was somewhat relevant to this dudes thread, but you were no where near close.
and of the OP. I would say, swap the engine out. If there was really that little mileage on the car, then everything must be in great shape, minus the whole engine deal. F22's are a dime a dozen.
