GDD Motorcycle Guys: Honda CBR F4i?
Im looking at a 2001 CBR f4i in Red/White
10k miles
3rd owner
Registration until 8/2010
Never laid down
Mods:
Double Bubble
Slip on Exhaust
600rr Undertail/rear fender eliminator
Frame Sliders
Corbin front seat
Flush Mount signals
He has all the original stock parts, including the original rear tail fairing (he said he did not want to mess up the original one, so he bought one to mod).
Now assuming the bike is in good condition, light to no scratches on fairings, engine runs strong, no rust, etc, what is fair value for the bike, including all the stock parts? The bike is located in California. I've checked KBB, but they dont have a private party value, so i average the retail and trade in value. Also, this is low mileage (again, according to kbb, which i think is wrong). Lastly, KBB is not taking into account the present economic condition, which I think is prevalent in luxury items such as a motorcycle.
Edit: Bought it! Thanks all.

I picked up basically the same bike, red/white, 6k miles, first owner/never down, and all stock. Paid 4200 back in early 07. I'd offer somewhere around that price but I haven't checked the price of bikes lately.
Ive been following CL for a long time, but CL is posted asking price, not selling price, so it's not very representative of what they go for. I also believe that a lot of bikes are posted high, but i dont have any evidence of it except for the bikes that i remember getting reposted.

Do I have to wait until the winter for a reliable and well taken care of bike to drop to this price range?
I know.
GDD moves faster though. It's more of a "general" discussion vs a "technical" discussion, so perhaps the powers that be will let this thing stay for a day and run its gdd course, then move over to Motorcycles?
If you guys have to move it, go ahead.

Ive been seeing ~5k mileage bikes for 4500 asking price, but in 2005 models. Now, I want the older model for 2 reasons: i prefer the step up seat aesthetics, and they are also cheaper. Ideally I am looking to pay in the 3500 price range.

. I waited and waited for an F4i in great condition to drop below 4000 and gave up. Try throwing that number around with him and see if it works. My bike was initially listed at 4800.
<30 mornings and 110 summer days are killer.
Local Bike shop knew the owner(N-FL). Stock 01 except for slip on and blinkers. paint had a few minor flaws but motor and drive train where strong. Around 13000 miles on her. around this time last year.
Have not had a lick of problems...

Thats a killer deal. I doubt ill be able to replicate something like that. Do you know how much a 01-03 rear tail assembly would go for used?

You should be able to buy that bike for high 3's (if it's cherry) or less.
I've seen 1st gen 600rr's start selling at or below the $3xxx level--which would be the better choice imo, unless you need the F4i ergos.

My bike has about the same amount of money in upgrades as the one you posted, it's an 02' with red/white plastics. I've been trying to sell mine at around 4000-4500.
I always liked the older 900rr's with the twin round headlights - not sure what year they are though.
KBB is hard to judge, as bike milage can vary a lot and condition even moreso. If the bike has low milage, original plastic/paint, and maintence records, you should be all set.
I am picking up a 99 Duc 996S and paying above KBB due to condition, extras, and very low milage. Can't wait!

I don't follow KBB prices...unless they work in my favor (aka when selling a bike).
Don't factor extra parts into the price unless they are high-dollar bits (Ti exhaust, mag wheels, etc). If he wants more money for them he can part them out himself. Has the cam-chain tensioner been checked? They're a weak point on these otherwise-bullet-proof bikes.
Like the others said, high $3k's for a minty one, mid-to-low $3k's for one in decent shape.
