i want to mod my 86 crx si
just got it from a friend and moves for what it is im just wanting a little more power. does anyone know of any good performance parts i can do to this?
its already got a cone filter and im considering a custom catback but dont quite know what to do about lowering it since everyone says its different from usual cars suspension wise.
open to any and all ideas. ill be trying to install something new every week.

you could save up and do the same thing im gunna do with mine once i get the body work on mine done ..its a dohc zc swap outa a 1st gen integra its basically a bolt on engine swap..you dont need to change the motor mounts or any of that
mine needs body work to but its all simple stuff. quarter panels driver side skirt and sun roof is rusted but its worth keeping. which of the 1st gen teggys or is it any of them? and whats the motor code?
D16A1 mang But searching is ur friend! (86-89,but 88-89 hve elect adv,and 86-87 are vacuum dizzy) Need to match the harness?,dizzy, and ecu for all like when doing mpfi swap on later civics/crx from what I've read so far, haven't done one yet myself-but tempting fo sho! Not sure if that made sense, but methinkz ya get the idea... I just bought my 87 crx (all stock-so far),and had an 86 wagovan (put a weber 2bbl on it-then sold) for a beater awhile back whilst building my sedan (but i know the eng code's correct @ least, lol)
cool i got a chance and found all the codes but i dont feel like importing a motor thats why i rather find a local domestic swap. mines got the vacuum dizzy and is fuel injected so that makes it a lil easier

hmm mine is ok looks to be the d15a3 vacuum dizzy and i keep hearin mine has the jdm motor which i cant tell. im on the verge of maybe selling it since it seems like there isnt anything worth my while to mess with.
you don't have a JDM motor.. i don't know who's telling you that, but they don't know..
and no, these cars aren't worth while if you want to find parts easily, get cheap ebay parts or APC parts. these cars ARE worth the time if you want to make something that is unique, "old school", or want to make a kickin race car as these chassis are great starting points for SCCA ITA, Honda challenge H5/H2 cars, CSP car, EP car etc..
but if you want a car for ricing, no these are terrible for that. n one makes bolt on "m3" mirrors, or "euro tailz" or projectors for them. heck, you can't even find a hunk of fiberglass to barely call a "body kit" practically!
so what exactly would you want to do with the car? that is a big deciding factor in owning one and the modifications you do. the parts are out there for these cars, you just have to know the resources and people to talk to in order to get them..

thats the thing my coworker drives the huge scca truck and is with the philly region group. i considered it but i look at the suspension and how much space is under the hood and i see little i can do besides restore it. its a fun little car and is above the pepboys soda cans mufflers but thats why i wanna find out what mods can be done to this. im not a big honda guy and all i keep hearing is "cut the springs" and "weld a muffler on" which i rather not do. so if you know any places that have PROPER parts for these things then let me know.
i would, but they banned us posting that site on here.
so instead, i will say this: are you interested in autocrossing or road racing? btw, check your Private messages..

Yeah man. what e-at me was saying.
these cars are classics and the lightest CR-X's to come out of the factory. perfect for autocross because of their Kate Moss-like weight numbers. I also hear that they are some of the most spirited cars to drive. I had a friend that was in love with his, until he blasted a deer in it.
Either way, I'd put a DOHC Integra engine in it. Cheap as heck and it would be a wonderful upgrade to the chassis.
