Default 1987 Honda CRX

Hey guys just bought a 1987 Honda CRX for 1300 dollars today and had a question about a problem it has. It runs find but for some reason it makes a squealing sound when you first turn it on until you let it run and give it some gas the sound is in the alternator area not sure exactly what it is didn't want to mess with it unless I knew what it was. There is also a shaking sound when you turn the key to power it and it stays on not sure what it is its coming from the engine also.

Now I'm no expert, but the squealing sound you hear is probally the alternator belt. You can usually fix this problem by replacing the belt. Im not so sure about the shaking sound though.

The car looks good btw.

Nice CRX! Well worth $1300. Does the vibration noise always stick around while the car is running? Was the car modified by the previous owner? Maybe he put polyurethane in the engine mounts or something... you should actually describe the "shaking sound" in more detail...

if the shaking sound is more like a hum or motor running then your hearing the fuel pump, they are very loud in these cars cause they arent in the tank

at least they arent on civics but i think CRXs are the same

Its like a buzz sound and im not sure if it still makes the sound while its running I have to check because I cant hear it over the engine. But yea its a beautiful car Im new to cars so yea Im very happy with it. Also Its very hard to find first generation parts whether it be performance or stock do any of you guys have some websites I can use to find some?

Yea, the car is also a DX which seems to be even harder to find parts for it.

most parts from civics and integras will work between cars, like brakes and t-bars and alot of motor parts too

well the auto part... sucks but it explains the condition, little old lady owned

everything for an si will work besides the intake because they are PGM-FI

the motor is the same otherwise, suspensions same but i believe si is a bit stiffer, trannys the same but si has different ratios but its not a 5spd so...

but if you need to replace the auto then you need to find a sedan because alot more sedans came with an auto then hatches or CRXs

1st gen Integra '86-'87 "Brown Top" motors, relatively easy swap but not much gain, only 22 horse

as long as it's an 84-87 it will bolt in pretty much. wiring is a different matter.
