'94 Civic 1.6 V-tec, auto trans 225,000ish miles

Son was driving home one day, engine stopped. Engine cranked real slow, so he had it towed home. 1/2 qt. low on water at radiator (overflow was empty), and 1/2 qt. low on oil.

Removed all belts, spark plugs, starter- could not turn engine over by hand.

Have engine rebuilt? Used engine? Tear engine apart and rebuild? Tear engine apart, fix what's wrong and pray?

buy a new engine... they are very cheep..
but before you do that id tear the engine down and see if you can find just whats wrong with it.

it could also be the coil in the dizzy is gone, check that, as it may not be getting any spark, or fuel?
or the engine could just be trash and it seized.

 

Sonny boy is short on cash (new baby and all). He's out pulling oil pan off right now. Maybe we'll get lucky!

Buying a new engine to replace the current one may in the end be the cheapest, easiest, and quickest option to get back on the road. Good luck.

 

What is a source for an engine? I've found used, rebuilt, and Ebay from Japan, but not new. Sacramento area.
