Default h22a intake manifold butterfly diaphram issue

h22a swap into 95 accord.

anyhow theres this gold diaphram w/ a nipple on the drivers side top part of the intake manifold, i know it controls some butterflies inside the manifold, i also researched where the diaphram pulled vacuum from.. sum "mystery box" from prelude... anyhow i dont have that box...so can i just pull vacuum from the intake manifold to open that diaphram/butterflies?? thanks!

Yes you can. the only down side to this is that the butterflies may not operate when they are most beneficial to the engines performance.

The parts you are looking for are the vacuum tank and control solenoid. tank is cheap control solenoid not so. Check your local JY for Preludes or parts there of.

then again none of this will mater if you don't have an ECU with the intake air bypass circuit installed. (IAB Pin A17 OBD1 ECU)

I removed the box since I'm using the p28 and p28 doesn't have that circuit board.

There is a write-up on this in the FAQ section. It says the open butterflies cause turbulence. They are getting better dyno numbers with the four butterflies removed.

Go to the JY find the parts and wire them up properly. Or take the secondary butterflies out and loose a tiny wee bit of low end tq. Or whatever the IABs were supposed to help?????

Try it out! It worked for me when I had a blacktop H22a in my hatch.

They physically work the same but I'm not sure that the GSR solenoid will hook up directly to the H22 wire harness. Do you have a GSR IAB solenoid? If you do you could hard wire it or use some quick connects to get it working.
