OK I am writing this to help others with this same problem. Had the civic brought into the shop today and it wouldn't crank, tested the battery and it was dead, no chraging it since it was 6 years old. Once replaced it would crank no problem. Checked the fuel line going into the fuel rail and plenty of fuel spewed out, so the fuel pump is working. Checked for spark by putting an old used plug into the plug wire and had a friend crank her and no spark at all. I have several civics on the lot so I took the dizzy out of the same car and put it in the non-runner and it started right up. A new dizzy will be ordered Monday morning for this civic. I checked the yellow/green wire inside the dizzy and I got between 5 - 6 ohms with the key on but nothing with the key off, is this normal of a bad dizzy?

 

Since that sounds like my problem I guess I will get 2 replacement dists. and keep one in the trunk!
