Tilton Twin disc spline stripped
Well when I was on the dyno starting to tune for power the transmission started to not go into any gears anyways towed it home and disassembled it and found that the clutch disc closest to the pressure plate is completely round with no splines. Dont know what would cause this this clutch has never been launched or abused has about 1500 miles on it and driven nice since I was breaking in the motor at the same time, and then it goes out on the dyno before I even got a clean pull last dyno pull was 350 whp @ 7000 rpm on 11psi. The transmission it is on is a Hydro 95 LS and the spline on the good disc measures to be 26mm X 24 teeth and when I measured with calipers my input shaft it measures at 0.995" with 24 teeth on the spline and the discs that were used are the 26mm x 24. I know there are two sizes of the input shafts 1" (small spline) and 26mm (big spline), and I thought small splines only came on the 90-91 transmissions which are cable, but from what I measured my input shaft is closer to the 1". I just want to find out what caused this problem and if I am using to correct discs and if the 1" disc will even fit I dont want to order them and have it not fit but I dont want to order the 26mm discs and strip out another hub in a few hundred miles. I would like to see if anyone elses hydro input shafts are measuring around 1" or if its 26mm and any suggestions and reasoning for this failure?
I dont have a reason for you. But I was in the same position myself. Had the Tilton Twin Disc(K Series) And this is what it did..

.
Bought CM and it did the same thing.. It's hit or miss with these Twin disc clutches...
Went with Comp Clutch and so far no problems..

My tilton twin did the same thing with my bseries. I replaced the disk with the "heat treated" disc, and didnt have a problem after that.
The heat treated ones are black in the center.

Yeah I talked with Kirk over at tilton and he took care of me, and stated the problem is the alignment of the input shaft with the crank center line and the fact that honda's input shafts were not designed to handle 600 +hp. As far as the discs that I had they are the same "heat treated" black colored center hubs that done is talking about which are the newer stronger discs but my disc came out looking like 1320whtrex. Anyways Kirk over at tilton set me up with some prototype hubs mounted with brand new discs for me to test out free of charge, +1 for good customer service.
thats good for you. I had like 200 miles on my clutch and it did the same thing also. I end up paying another 2-300 for replacement tilton discs. They gave me a discount on it. After that I havent used my tilton again, so I wouldnt know if i'll run into that problem again or not.

I had to buy new disc 200-300 dollars.
