Integra GSR Noise Question..when revved
I have a friend who has a 01 integra gsr whenever he revs his engine to like 3000 rpm it makes a rattle noise..is this normal.. something to do with butterfly or something?
its fine at other rpms just around 3000-3500.. I checked the exhaust for me nothing is lose all secure I was thinking it has something to do with butterfly on the gsr?
any inputs be helpfully..
thanks!

Check the brackets on the header, there are two: one in front of the engine-exhaust manifold to block, then the next one that is between the header and cat. Mine broke and is causing a vibrating noise in the same RPMs. Check that and go from there cause I'm sure it maybe a crack in the welds or the bracket has cracked which cause the rattle. G/L and hope this helps.
My car has the EXACT same problem. My heat shield had a small chip of metal that needed to be welded down, cut, or bolted. Check the heat shield, after the car has cooled, for missing bolts or loose metal. Also, check the area where the catalytic converter connects to the exhaust piping. I've read on TEGGER FAQ that its a common problem where the piping can get loose from a faulty design. good luck, and wait for the cat to cool off.
^ Yup. Had same problem. It was teh upper heat shield on teh catalytic. Check from teh header all teh way to teh exhaust. If you aren't sure about where to look just look at teh bolts that hold teh shields together.

I had the same thing on my b18c powered EK. I have it everyone once in a great while with my current '00 Integra.
Most likely it's caused by the exhaust vibrating right around the cat and the heat shield for the cat.

My Ek was horrible with this and it used to drive me crazy. I had to do a couple of things to get it to stop.
First, i realized that the EK only had 1 exhaust hanger past the cat whereas the Integras had dual rubber hangers. I had someone weld on something for me so I could use an extra hanger.
Then, I bent back parts of the heat shield that came close
Then i made sure the wiring for the o2 sensor wasn't restricting the cat at all
