LS Turbo or LS Vtec?
I just swapped a b18b into my 96 civic...Some people tell me to do vtec, some turbo...Some people tell me both but i dont have that kinda cash right now...I really have my mind set on turbo but let me know...So far i have a cat back exhaust skunk2 ecu with skunk2 harness, CAI, and plan on doing cams and pulleys...What else should I do if i decide to go with turbo?...Thanks
ALSO...Whats a good website where I can find good turbo kits for a fairly good and reasonable price?

I would go turbo.
A civic ls/VTEC turbo runs mid/low 12's at my local track. Its a show car and has system and everything in it.
check http://www.groupbuycenter.com for drag3 kits. They seem pretty popular.

Turbos are high maintenance, but just run 8psi and you are good to go. LS/Vtec's are a pain in the *** to maintain. Lots of people go, they are super reliable and crap, when they only have like 1000 miles on theirs. truth is they dont last, they are built purely for all motor speed, and die fairly easily. The blocks cannot take the high revving due to the rod/stroke ratio. Just go turbo and run stock boost on stock compression and you will be very happy.

No questions asked, turbo HANDS down, I've had mine turbo daily drive for 4 months no problems turbo related besides a slight oil leak (common) no extra maintence whatsoever, I believe a anything besides perfect ls/vtec would be same or more maintenence... plus turbo ls will be faster assuming you know how to drive, but that goes both ways

I guess all that comes with the knowledge of knowing what your getting yourself into..... checking oil has slowed down because I know its not leaking anything significant at all, turbo timer takes care of the car on thing.
TURBO.. thought u knew! both setups require daily maintenance because of reliability factors. as long as you install a turbo kit right.. and check out things here and there... youll be good to go. i usually pop my hood open and check to make sure things are cool. best power potential...

::drunk leave me alone::so yor saying you shut you car off right when you park? Or how about checking your oil all the time...there is more maint with turbo. maybe not much to notice, but there is. i'm just giving the facts. I know a stock turbo vs stock ls/vtec is faster.

Turbos blowing rings on less then 8psi means nothing. Many people blow rings non-turbo on a stock engine. Rings are a wearable item. Also get a turbo timer and you can shut your car right off when you are done.

BTW, you should be checking your oil all the time anyway.
Also, aren't LS/Vtec's notorious for having oil problems due to tapping and plugging an oil feed and runnin a line out the side? I think they are...
I'm all motor and let me tell you my engine gets mad hot, always have to check oil, etc, etc, etc. Turbo is the better way to go fast.

First of all dont waste your $$ on pulleys and cams. Stock cams are fine for turbo. Don't complicate things just slap on the turbo, tune, take care of it and you will be happy with your purchase.

Turbo... Easier...more potential

are you planning to take the car out on the track? as in track days...?
i have seen some turbo hondas running around now, although they were very fast, they could get around 10 minutes of track time in vs 20 mins for everyone else- due to the car starting to overheat. one of the guys was getting pinging too.
that kinda scared me off getting a turbo kit for my car.

So, would a turbo Ls/Vtec be a real pain in the ***? You'd already be putting a decent amt. of pressure on the engine, would the high revs of a vtec head make the engines life a lot shorter? I was thinking about getting and turbo'ing an LS, then putting on a vtec head a while later. Comments?
