My build thread
I'm new to this site and need all of your help and opinions. Bought this 05 Civic EX (my 1st import after catching the tuning bug late). Unfortunately grew up a Fixed Or Repaired Daily guy (72 Mustang/429 was my 1st car) but hate most domestics now and wanted something different and fuel efficient. Glad I switched over. Car was used (bought in april 09 w/1 orig owner 45K miles on it). Liked the stock look of the car but switched some stuff. Anyhow, here's what I did in the interior, under the hood (not alot so far) and on the outside. Let me know what you think and need your opinions about a few things I'll post at the end. Thanks for your input/help!!! I'll be posting a few more pictures on the reply to this and I need advice on whether to get black halo headlights or keep the stock ones? Current interior is stock all black leather reclining seats, I was thinking about getting red reclining Recaro's or Kirkey's (need comfort!but also reclining to get in back seats). What do you think about outside smoked black window visors?, switching out the factory radio for a pioneer DVd player AVHp3100 model? Thinking about turbocharging down the line since K20's are next to impossible to find here for a swap. 1 more thing, RIMS chrome, black, what do you think? Thanks! Will attach more photos of under hood and side view soon!
Here's the other pics I have. Don't have room for alot more til later. Here's what current side view and under hood look like. Thanks for your input! P.s. sorry about the date stamps!!! Stupid camera.
Funny you should say that. Someone said my car was "murdered out" when I first bought it. Never heard that term before (haha). It was totally black interior, black factory mats front and rear and was very dark inside. I felt like it needed a facelift but it did look good I guess. I wanted interior to look different and outside to stand out. I'm am leaning toward the black halos in the front but like my current taillights over the stock red ones. Torn because the stock headlights look good with the black but more and more I like the black halos, not the chrome ones. Also thought about getting yellow fog lights but have nowhere to attach the interior button that I know of. Most people put theirs where my moonroof button is now from what I've seen but they do look good on most of the cars I've seen on here. That's why I'm asking for opinions. Thanks for yours.
IMO (but it's your car, your money, and most important.. your choice)
Replace the taillights with OEM or UKDM. Get rid of the floor mats. Peel the "carbon fiber" stickers off your interior pieces. Toss the license plate frame. Replace the covers that you painted white with OEM pieces. Remove the mesh from the grill and bumper. What exhaust is that? It looks like an eBay special.
On a side note: What is that wire poking out from under the driver's side of your dash? Wait... don't tell me you have LED lights in your car?

When you decide to change your radio; I recommend buying a factory harness adapter. I also recommend replacing your stock speakers, as well as doing the work yourself. You'll save a fair amount of money.
Here are a couple links to guide you through the installation process. Link 1 Link 2
Both of which are also located in the FAQ's Page

Appreciate the input. Thanks for the links to the radio/dvd hookup! You don't like the grill or license plate cover? (haha) Lose the plate cover altogether? What do you guys think about the OEM headlights replaced with black halo's? I'm really torn on that one. Someone please give input on that one. Sorry I do think the smoked LED taillights look a little better than the red OEM's. (only my opinion) Everyone has the OEM red's. Another thing that I'm torn on Red racing seats, black leather racing, or keep current stock leather ones? (I've had my eyes on Recaro's or Kirkeys). I need something comfortable, anyone have problems with back hurting from the stock seats, mine are killing me! Nobody I know personally can seem to agree on the rims even though I'm leaning toward black. BTW, I personally for some strange reason couldn't STAND the OEM black plastic honeycomb grill that came with my car, is there any alternatives out there? Same with the OEM black fuse box and ignition coil cover (hence the white paint). Probably could have picked a better color I guess. Looking for another strut bar also, heard Neuspeed and DC sports were good to clear the cold air intake. (thanks to fellow forum member). Most of the ones I'm finding don't clear it. Please let me know your opinions on the headlights, seats, and grill alternatives. Thanks for all of your input! Oh yeah, put back in the black civic logo factory mats? Hmmm?

Only on long road trips.
You're welcome.
Yes.
they are a discontinued wheel by axis. 17x7 +40 offset. All wheels are in good condition, front tires have been on for about 4 months, rears 2 weeks (no camber wear), would throw in some honda center caps if you are interested. i love these wheels, but it's time for something different.
A simple seat swap from a DC5 (RSX) or an EP3 (Civic Si Hatchback), would easily remedy the seat issues you have, for a lower cost.

Thanks for all of your input. IT WASN'T ME was right about the lower back issues (kidneys?), I just came back recently from 13 hour drive from Virginia Beach, that's when it started and has continued for over a week now.

i'd focus more on the suspension right now if it hasn't already been tightened up
get some thicker anti-sway bars and maybe some strut bars, reduce the body roll, then maybe some non-ricer 17s

Thanks. I was looking at putting some new bushings recently on the sway bars. I bought a strut bar, but the wrong one that didn't clear the cold air intake and am trying to return it now. Seems like I need one that juts around not goes straight across like the one in the picture below from another forum member. Oh by the way, thanks for all the advice. You guys were right, going back to scratch, does look better w/o the silver grill!! Replaced the interior also with OEM factory black Civic mats and got the silver steel ones out. BTW, I still like the aftermarket smoked LED taillights, yes the red OEM ones look good but these flow better, IMO.
I'm curious to see a picture of your car with it on there. Some people on here seem to think it looks silly and too shiny (haha). Had a thought, why isn't there a market for black carbon fiber ignition coil covers, fuse box covers or even blacked out H honda logos for 04/05 civics? Why doesn't the aftermarket support these products after seeing so many carbon fiber spark plug covers for other Hondas? Does anyone think these would sell? I'm touching up my own now and trying to cover up the white, might switch back to black OEM ignition coil cover and fusebox cover, but made these in the meantime with black carbon fiber film. In the process of getting OEM yellow foglights and new strut bar. Still up in the air with the rims but leaning toward black.
