Tranny gurus needed..stock diff broken.debris everywhere.scored case. I NEEDYOURHELP
okay ..hers the deal this past sat i was @ the track.runnin on a set of 25s.. my last pass i didnt preload and when i launched i hurt my trans.. trailered the car home and finally cracked the case open last night and found that lots of teath from thr diff wer chewed off .now for the bad part... theres the inside of the case is coated with fragments and small chunks of steel AND ALUMINUM ... instead of towing the car back from the end of the track i drove it back to the pit area wich wss a very bad idea. looks like the ring gear grabbed hold of some of the debris and took out some of the webbing that the ring hovers above. in the very top of the case where the diff bearing sits is scored up also.. will this be a problEm and can i just clean up the gears and case .dremel /smooth out the rough spots and reuse. what is the best cleaner to use without warping seal and what not. i will hav pics up later when i get home .. any tips and or help is well appreciated..thanks in advance

i will try to get pics of the passenger side or top of the trans case where the diff bearing and case meet....
no, im curious to know if it will be fine to clean out and just replace the diff. the case seems structuraly sound, no cracks in the case that i can see, other than the rubbing/missing webbing, etc . i dont much about trannys, thats why i wanna get some input from you guys.... cases are kinda pricey and i dont wanna go there if i dont have to!
You broke it already, Dan!>!?
Clean it out with any type of Purple Power, Superclean, etc. and flush it with water.
You don't necessarily have to grind any of the aluminum down if it doesn't contact diff/ring gear assembly. You should be okay. But you WILL have to check ALL bearings and shaft orifices for debris and freedom of smooth movement.

yea, broke already. i have been wanting to install the new diff unfortunatly it happened this way.PURPLE POWER it is,its good for the glaucoma too...LOL.. do you suggest removing the bearings before cleaning or doesnt it matter.... i tried cleaning the diff bearings out with carb cleaner and re-oiling but theres still debris in them.........
You can leave the bearings in. But make sure they spin nicely once finished with everything.
Use the purple power to clean the case, wash it out with water, dry it all out with compressed air, then WD-40/oil the bearings. Put the countershaft into its bearing and spin it. Do the same with the mainshaft to check for smoothness and quietness of the bearing.
If anything has issues, replace them. You won't be able to salvage the diff bearings if they are like that. Get new ones.
And like I said, it would be wise to tear down both gear stacks and clean/check ALL needle bearings as well.

Well, I'm flat-rate per job for the most part. So it'll depend on what all you'd like to do with it, Dan. Just PM me or call the shop.
