oil in distributor cap
so my i take off my dizzy cap to inspect it cuz my car was sputtering out and i cleaned it and it ran good but now theres oil in it again.. any ideas where it could be comming in from?
more common on gen 1 V-8's but the same place for us. the only way you can get oil in a distributor cap of the honda is to either spill it or have it walk up the shaft from the cam. i haven't torn one down completely but there must be a seal between the cam key and the internals. in there would be your issue.
Theres is a shaft seal on the dizzy. its is under all that internal stuff. The only to still use it the way it is now is to make a hole so that the oil drains, if not get a new seal or distributor. here a link if you want to replace the seal. word of caution though, its not easy to take the seal out.
