Thats not a poor mans itr, why you gonna bolt a vtec head to a vtec block, Its suppose to be a vtec head bolted onto a non-vtec block

Don't do it, you're gonna lose power. I don't think the b16a head flows any better than the GSR head, plus you will lose compression.

it doesn't have to be a non vtec block, b18c1 is still a good choice.
Your right, the gsr head flows better than the b16, although if it doesn't have a head already, you might be able to find a b16 header alot easier the a GSR.

why would you lose compression?
I heard the b16 head runs higher compression than a gsr...

The b16 head has higher combustion chamber volume(cc's) than the gsr head. You will need pistons to get the compression back.

As far as performance, the b16 supposedly has a slight advantage over the stock gsr head. If you are going to have head work done the gsr head is supposed to be better. The ports are higher in the head giving a straighter shot at the valves.

I dont remember him saying he had the GSR head on the block. my friend warped the head on his GSR so he did the b61 head thing. he used endyne pistons and all the other crap so now it a 12's vehicle.

that statement is a crock of ****...

true, you do lose like .1-.2 compression my putting on a B16 head on a GSR block. a thinner head gasket or B16 pistons will take care of that. no biggie. the B16 is better if u get higher lift cams. especially if u port and polish it. im going for this setup now. all i need is my skunk valvetraina dn then my b16 head is getting shipped to portflow. i should be over 200whp easy with this setup

with a B16 head u lose .4 compression points. y is everyone claiming .1 and .2 points, its .4. do the math it works.

all this math stuff...how easy is it to get a GSR head over a b16 head. that's where it all boils down too.

i hear that, im lookin for a GSR head but i want a newer one 99+ only. dont want something thats been thrashed on or worn out. plus smaller combustion chamber, woohoo.

What about taking a b16 head getting it a p&p and new valvetrain and cams. Would the loss of compression mate well to forced induction?
