04 lx coupe overheating and just replaced t-stat
I was driving in the mountains today with my buddy pushing between 5 to 7k rpms for about 5 min. when my cars temp shot up to about 3/4th way up the temp gauge so I slowed way down. We then stop at the saddle and it went all the way up to the H. It boiled the water out of the over flow while I was sitting there. I waited about an hour for it to cool down. I Then drove like a mile and it started to over heat again so I parked it and we went to go get more fluid. The got more fluid re filled the radiator and went down slow with the heater on. This helped the car stay at normal operating temp till we got back home. While at stop light I would turn the heater off and watch the gauge creep up and then trun the heater back on and the gauge would drop fast.
After all this I figured it was a bad Thermostat. So I replaced it and refilled the radiator with 50/50 premix started it up and filled it again after letting the car idle for 10 min with no temp jump. Then went for a test drive, once again with in about a mile or 2 it started to over heat unless i had the heater on. Brought it home and let it idle with the heater on until the temp wnt down to normal.
Any ideas as to what is going on. Also I checked the oil not turning white so no water in the oil which rules out the head gasket and the fan works as well.

i have a similar problem in my 04 LX... i did a radiator leak check.hoses were checked.. water pump was working. it was weird. I refilled the resevior and the radiator and rest for 1 hour, went a go with it and 15 mins later overheated again.
yeah i know its weird. I even replaced the thermostat in mine. Idk what going on.

Yes I did search the other threads to the problem. I can't seem to find stuff as most of the others are water pump, fan, or heater core which all work on mine. That is why I am stumped I am going to try it again today see what happens. I am going to replace the coolant temp sensor next see if that helps.
thanks to anyone who can come up with an Idea to what myy problem might be.
