Big 4" Aluminum Downpipe
Just finished this up for a buddy of mine
4" od .120" wall for the downpipe, going to do the exhaust out of .065"
he is looking to make 600+ hp and yes this is for his race car so it should hold up fine, he wants to take it out on the road occasionally though so thats why we did the downpipe out of double wall, just to help prevent any blowout.

Even out of double wall it still weights nearly 20% lighter than stainless!

That is S366 with the largest T4 vband housing. We machined off the weird 3.5" vband and put the normal 4" vband on instead. We used the nice vibrant vband because of the male/female setups they have that will keep the flange centered all the time.
There is a high temp viton o-ring between the aluminum vband and the stainless vband on the turbo to keep things sealed up.
We aren't to worried about temps as it is a strict track car but we did thicken up the downpipe to the double wall just for the occasional street visits.

No problem man
Sorry about the goofy o2 bung we were out of small aluminum round bar lol
That cube was machined on the mill though, edges are square to .001 of an inch

I don't think the .120 wall was necessary. I'm pretty sure people have been okay with lighter gauge material even for the downpipe.
He is just going to use a wideband for tuning then pull out the sensor and plug it.
If you have ever driven down Houston roads you would know the reason for the double wall... Trust me Houston Roads = old goat trails lol

I taught my GF how to weld and she is getting pretty good. She actually likes doing this work more than when she was at Sally Beauty Supply because her boss is cool *Me*, she gets to crash on the couch when she is tired play with dogs all day and watch tv.
I'll get her to show you sometime, I was really too busy to teach her but now that she can it really helps me out when I am busy with other things.
BMCLouzee is my GF, she'll probably come post something on this thread tomorrow, she does a really good job at keeping up with all them.

looks good
ive done multiple aluminum down pipes......only had an issue with 1 that had a REALLY sharp cheater cut directly off of the exhaust housing. that one blew apart. all of the other ones similar to the one you have are still kick'in you should be good to go!

Drag racing is easy to build one for as the time at WOT is quite short. Street driving is no problem.
Even with the heavy wall, he is still almost 1lb/ft lighter than a stainless one.
