Icon2 D15B7 with P28 ECU and EX trans???

hey guys, i have a '93 Civic sedan. it's an LX, but i'm confused about some things. it's bone stock (other than tail lights, ricer mod ), i'm second owner of the car and the PO never did anything to it. from what i can tell it's a D15B7, and has an EX transmission. the ECU code is P28 though. from what i've found so far, the P28 ecu was off the D16 VTEC engines, but mine isn't VTEC. anybody have any insight as to what's up with all this???

it means that you need a p06 ecu.

i bet you are throwing a check engine light right now for vtec system

p06's are cheap

so are d16z6 (d16 vtec)

pick which one you want to buy

my CEL is off though, i know it works too. the car runs fine, still getting 30+ mpg with it even eating oil and antifreeze (it's on it's way out)

Looks like swapping the d15 for a d16z6 is your best option then

hes talking about ecus
the p28 will work just fine.
op if you get a z6 or y8 d16 you can just put that in and have vtec. very very easy swap and youl hav all the parts. and you get more power like 30hp and still get 987mpg

thanks rick. i was kinda wondering about that. i have a buddy who's selling me a complete D16Z6 with trans for $200. my little D15 is on it's last leg, and i still need this car for a good DD.

i'm still confused as to how i got the VTEC ecu on a non-VTEC car though...

some idiot probably thought if you add a vtec ecu to a non vtec car that will give you vtec. thats my guess

ya, don't change that ecu the p28 is one of the best ecu and hard to find. it will run the d15b7 better and faster than the stock ecu. but for the full advantage you should put a v tec head on that block since you already have the ecu and all. thats if you want a easy 35hp gain.
