Pre-made cat back exhausts are a little too pricey, so I'm going with a universal muffler and 2 1/4" piping to the cat. Just wondering, which muffler is nicest sounding, the APEX'i N1, the HKS Hi-Power or the Skunk2 Megapower? I'd probably prefer the quieter of the three, and deeper sounding as well. so which is built the best and sounds the best? p.s. it'll be going on a 90 si civic w/ DOHC ZC.

There are your choices, I would do the N1, I have one on my Hf (yeah hahah) and it sounds amazing for some odd reason. I'v heard them on other cars and they just don't sound the same.

Just pick the one you like. Personally on my b16 hatch I have 2.5" piping with Magnaflow muffler, looks stock, little raspy in part throttle but everywhere else it sounds quite good in my book. This is coupled with a LoveFab 4-1 header also.

 

all are pretty nice, i'm really liking the HKS one. which would you say is the loudest? probably that Skunk2 one.

 

I have a Skunk2 Megapower full exhaust for my b16 and I love it. Its a bit loud, but sounds great at all RPMs and there is no rasp at all.

yea i've only heard two Skunk2 mufflers on civics and both were really loud. i'm leaning towards the hks hi power...any other suggestions?

 

I'm starting to really like canister/n1 style mufflers. I've been looking at the HKS Hi Power, DC Sports universal muffler and the Injen universal muffler.
DC Sports, HKS and Injen are supposed to be a good brands. I've narrowed it down to these three. any one have one of these with custom piping?

I have a full cat back apexi n1 on a eg hatch with a b18. Its almost as quiet as stock until you get on it, then it has a great low rumble

ok, well as it stands I'm most likely going to buy the HKS hi power universal muffler and get a shop to weld 2 1/4" piping. Will I need a resonator or silencer? And I am also considering saving for an Invidia cat back system. would you guys recommend getting the Invidia pre-made system or just buy the hks muffler and have a shop do custom piping?

 

thats the same setup i was running on my integra, the hks universal muffler with stock exhaust and resonator, sounded perfect. you have a PM btw.
