looking for ideas on fabing brackets to mount engine to palet
I've been cleaning up the garage trying to sell some stuff and i've got a B16a looking pretty nice that I plan to sell in the next few weeks. Full engine with transmission. Anyways, my first idea was to take some 1" circle tubing about 3" long (weld tab on one end) to bolt to 3 spots on the block on each side (AC compressor threads on front side, intermediate shaft threads on back side) and tie them together and run some tube down to a 1/4" 2x2 angle that can bolt to the wood palet. Someone else suggested to take a 1/4" plate and drill holes to mount to the driver side upper engine mount and run braces down to angle on palet and similar off transmission side.
Any ideas what would be simple yet effective in providing safe/sturdy transport?

Normally I would do that, but I had this thing all stripped down, painted and looking nice & shiny. I suspect whoever may buy it will want it to be in the same condition, and I can't gaurantee that with standard strapping. But it may end up coming to that. Thanks for the ideas...keep them coming.
well what we do for shipping in my shop is the 1/4" strip with holes drilled in it. cheap and effective..but i mean if you have made it up to be nice then i guess just wrap it in some cheap blankets...haha..then strap her down on a palette( spell check)
thats a nice set up...i think he is trying for something that he isnt going to ever get back...cause i think he is trying to sell the engine..but those brackets are pretty nice...if i think i might make those tomorrow for when we ship our engines out...thanks alot...it looks alot more professional than a few pieces of steel welded together...even though thats basicly what it is.
